Replacing an old remote or wall control
Remotes get lost, receivers fail, and original models go out of production. This page is for the case where you still have the fan and its wiring — and only the control needs replacing.

Wall controls: what each one replaces
These replace a switch on the wall, not a handheld remote. If you are replacing a wall-mounted control, start here.

A wall control is the right part if…
- your fan is switched on and off at the wall today;
- you want dimming and speed control where the light switch already is;
- your switch box has no neutral wire — these controls do not need one.
You need a remote kit instead if…
- you control the fan with a handheld remote and want to replace it;
- the fan has pull chains and no wall switch you want to change;
- the replacement part you are removing is a receiver in the canopy.
Four things to look at before ordering
1. The label on the existing control
An FCC ID reads 2A4U8-JF018 on several models in this range, which tells you the transmitter belongs to the same family.
2. DIP switches
A bank of four small switches means pairing is set by DIP; note their positions, because yours may not be at the default. No switches usually means the pair is fixed and cannot be changed.
3. The part you are replacing
Receiver (a box inside the canopy), transmitter (a handset), or wall control (a plate on the wall)? That decides the family before anything else.
4. The fan's motor
AC or DC? Every product here is for AC motor fans; DC fans use a different controller. If the manual mentions a DC motor, stop and write to us.
