Why this kit exists. A standard in-canopy receiver is too large for some fans. This one measures 2.1 × 3 in — sized to fit mini and compact fan canopies, where a full-size receiver will not go.

Overview

The JF018 kit pairs a slim handheld remote with a compact in-canopy receiver. It is the kit to choose when space inside the canopy is the problem — so the receiver is small, and measuring your canopy first matters.

The kit arrives pre-programmed. There is no DIP code to set and no pairing sequence to run: wire the receiver in at the ceiling, restore power, and the remote works.

Works with

Mini and compact ceiling fans — the receiver is smaller than a standard one, so it fits where a full-size receiver will not.
Ceiling fans with a pull chain that you want to convert to remote control.
Major fan brands. Used with Hampton Bay, Harbor Breeze, Westinghouse and Honeywell fans, among others.
Lights with a simple on/off — the remote switches the light circuit.

Does not work with

Dimming. The light control is on and off only. If your fan has a dimmable LED or halogen lamp and you want to dim it, take the FAN-TT53 kit instead.
Canopies with no room for the receiver. Measure yours first — 2.1 × 3 in has to sit inside the canopy without being pinched by the cover.
Fans with unusual motor or light wiring. Receivers are not universal — send us a photo of your setup and we will confirm before you order.

Installation

The kit is wired at the fan, not at the wall switch, and arrives already paired. If you are not confident working at a ceiling outlet, have a licensed electrician fit it.

Isolate the circuit

Switch off the breaker and confirm the fan is dead at the wall switch before touching any wiring.

Fit the receiver in the canopy

Connect the receiver between the house wiring and the fan wiring, matching by colour and using the printed guide supplied.

Power on and test

Restore power and test each speed, the light and the timers. No pairing step is needed.

Measure first. The receiver needs to sit inside your fan's canopy without being pinched by the cover. Compare the 2.1 × 3 in receiver against the space you have before you order — that is the whole point of this kit.

Safety. Ceiling fans and their wiring operate at mains voltage. Isolate the circuit at the breaker before opening the canopy. Do not install a receiver that shows signs of heat damage, scorching or a burnt smell. Use the wire connecting nuts supplied with the kit.
